PURPOSE OF POSITION
To coordinate the implementation of the “Early Childhood Education” programme in putting together project goals that meet World Vision standards and policies in addressing refugee needs in a sustainable manner that leaves considerable positive impact on the targeted beneficiaries.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
ROLE DIMENSION / DESCRIPTION
1- Facilitate project’s implementation
Prepare Lesson Plan for the learning Cycle.
Ensure that the distribution of the lesson plan correspond with the project duration and objectives.
Prepare a weekly plan for the implementation of the classes.
Animate Early Childhood Education classes within the used curriculum.
Organize Educational and recreational events related to the lessons themes and objectives.
Provide age appropriate, loving discipline and behavioral guidance.
Help ensure that no unauthorized adults are in the childcare area at any time.
Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment in the child care classrooms.
Adapt the programme to the needs of the individual children, with concern to their interests, challenges, special talents, and individuals’ styles and paces of learning.
Display warm, energetic, child oriented disposition.
Guarantee a friendly, fun, creative, clean environment for children.
Ensure that minimum standards of Education in emergencies are considered.
Attend regular meeting with parents if needed.
Evaluate the implementation of the classes according to the approved stated objectives.
Liaise with Center Supervisor on regular basis regarding the implementation of ECE classes.
Follow up on the progress of children and document competencies gained and skills needed to access formal education.
Care for room and equipment.
Report items needing repair or replacement and submit request for Center Supervisor.
Submit request to the Center Supervisor on the purchase of the needed materials for the implementation of the classes.
Prepare the ECE educational material (posters, decoration, Educational games…).
Support Project officer in organizing community events at the end of each Cycle.
Fill the pre and posttests related to the ECE component.
II- Ensure children’s safety and protection
Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of Child Protection and confidentiality, working with refugee and host communities with sensitivity
Identify key protection threats affecting the children and raise them to the center supervisor.
Identify safety issues and follow-up with the center supervisor on the safety and security of the chosen locations
Inform the Center Supervisor about any health issues that could arise among children
Identify children requiring case management and ensure safe referral to case management agencies or service providers.
Ensure key protection threats affecting the ECE classes recognized and categorized.
III- Handle tracking, reporting on activities and filing
Enter all project related MOV into the system.
Fill and archive specific forms for referrals and weekly reporting, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
Handle reporting and filing:
- File all important records and correspondences related to the project
- Support the Project Officer in the development of the following reports:
a) Weekly activities planning
b) Weekly activities report
c) Inventory list for the material
d) Monthly report
4- Perform other duties as required
Safety and Security responsibilities
Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture
Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager
HEA responsibilities:
- Be aware of the emergency procedures in a response and ensure that necessary preparedness measures have been implemented after coordination with Project manager
Other duties:
Attend and participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality PSS and referrals, and reporting requirements are followed
Attend and participate in local and international training and capacity building events as needed
Attend and participate in spiritual nurture events and other organizational events
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor degree in a social development related field, (kindergarten, psychology, sociology, social sciences/humanities, specialized education or social animation)
Creative and able to come up, embrace and coordinate innovative thinking, and problem solving skills.
Good analytical, writing and computer skills.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to create and work as a team.
Able to work under pressure.
Knowledge of English
Previous experience with children from 3 to 5 years old (within training certificates) or related academic studies.
Capable of dealing with children who have experienced war distress (education in emergency preferable).
90% Office work and 10% field work if needed.
Position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular office hours occasionally.
Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis situation, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster.
