Is responsible to the FCDO, and in coordination with the Socio-Economic Specialist at HQ (A), for the development of the social and economic feasibility of projects elaborated specifically through the CDD, in each field, specific to each location to promote sustainable community development in parallel with the physical improvement in shelter, housing and infrastructure;

Is responsible for the implementation of policies and strategies and ways of working with camp residents that will contribute to the CDD goals of introducing a comprehensive approach to camp development and the formulation of camp improvement proposals that link the social development with the physical improvement;

Applies instructions, procedures, technical guidelines and standards, developed by the Camp Development Unit (CDU), to participatory planning, community participation & implementation approaches; so that the CDD can respond appropriately to the challenges presented by the CD process in its community driven participatory approach which will contribute to the camp residents capacity building process;

Assists and work closely with the Capacity Development Officer, in the integration of the social and economic elements in the CDD concept, which mainly consists of a process of generating local institutional capacity between the refugees and their representatives, to enable them become active participants in the process leading to a more community driven approach in the CD process;

Is responsible for the socio-economic surveys conducted in the camp under the supervision of the Field Camp Development Officer, and in close collaboration with Relief and Social Services (RSS) teams, to ensure the formulation of integrated CD proposals;

Collaborates with all Agency programs at the field and camp levels in the evolution of the CDD way of managing the social and economic development elements identified through the process of targeting the improvement of a specific camp and linking them with all services provided in the area of Health, Education, RSS and Micro-credit & Micro-finance programme (MMP);

Co-ordinates between CDD and existing development initiatives i.e. Micro-credit & Micro-finance programme, Micro-credit Community Support Programme (MCSP) and develops new initiatives;

Applies criteria and methodologies for the monitoring of the project implementation on sustainability and the evaluation of the impact of social development projects being part of the camp improvement projects; and conducts evaluation studies, prepares reports as requested by FCDO;

Provides technical input to the Capacity Development Officer on the requirements for CDD staff training and professional development to ensure effective programme delivery;

Performs such other duties as may be required.
