Country: Lebanon
Closing date: 02 Oct 2016
Generations For Peace (GFP) is seeking proposals from experienced videographers based in Lebanon to produce a 3-5 minute mini-documentary film highlighting GFP’s Lebanon-based programme that supports Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian youths and community members through sports-based and arts-based peacebuilding activities in 10 of the most vulnerable communities in Lebanon, particularly those affected by the Syrian refugee crisis. Arabic language skills preferred. English language skills are mandatory.
Background:
GFP is a leading global non-profit peace-building organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan and Sarah Kabbani in 2007. Dedicated to sustainable conflict transformation at the grassroots, Generations For Peace empowers volunteer leaders of youth to promote active tolerance and responsible citizenship in communities experiencing different forms of conflict and violence. Carefully-facilitated sport-based games, art, advocacy, dialogue and empowerment activities provide an entry point to engage children, youth and adults, and a vehicle for integrated education and sustained behavioural change.
In Lebanon, GFP in collaboration with the Development for People and Nature Association and the Beirut Centre for Development and Human Rights, aims to address youth radicalisation, transform conflict, improve social cohesion, and promote the respectful practice of human rights in 10 high-risk communities. The programme’s focus is to strengthen the capacity of youth leaders; consolidate resilience, social capital and social cohesion; reduce violence among vulnerable youth, through safe, positive sport- and arts-based peace-building behaviour-change activities; and increase awareness and application of human rights principles towards and amongst vulnerable youth through training and youth-led community initiatives, amplified by social media and supported by local municipalities.
This video should focus on the purpose of the programme’s and its importance. In addition, it should set the context, clearly explaining the need for such programme. Examples of previous videos produced can be found on our main YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/GenerationsForPeace
Location:
Filming will take place in Lebanon (exact locations TBD). The candidate would ideally be based in Lebanon - however, we will consider an international application.
Style:
The video should have a documentary feel. It should take the viewer on a journey, encouraging them to want to learn more and support the cause. Ultimately GFP want people to care. It is imperative that the video portrays the participants and volunteers’ lives as accurately and as fairly as possible. Interviews will be conducted in Arabic, and GFP staff can facilitate translation for editing/subtitles. Relevant donor logos and text slides (very minimal graphics) will need to be included.
Timeline:
GFP suggests the following as a time frame:
· Contract signed – October 2016
· Storyboard completed and agreed – October 2016
· Filming dates – 5/6 days between 1-14 November (TBD)
· Editing (with three drafts submitted for review/feedback: two structural and one revision) and final video completed - December 2016
