Position: Programme Director

Job Background:
The Programme Director champions a team culture of learning and continuous improvement and is responsible for supporting development of programme proposals, strategies and advocacy initiatives and campaigns to deliver (through policy change and improved practice) immediate and lasting change for children. In addition, the Programme Director will ensure high quality planning and reporting to donors and other stakeholders and maintain a consistent approach to programme quality. S/he will have a lead role in representation to government and developing and maintaining relationships with partners. In addition, the Programme Director is also responsible for capacity building and mentoring of Program Managers to ensure these staff develop their capabilities to effectively manage sector portfolios and projects per Plan standards and protocols.
Job Purpose:**
The Programme Director will be responsible for providing (in colaboration with the Senior Country Management Team) strategic vision and direction to the Myanmar country programme. The Director will also lead the development of high quality country and programme strategies and annual plans; support the development of an organisational culture that reflects our values, promotes accountability and high performance, encourages a team culture of learning, creativity and innovation. The Programme Director will also provide overall leadership, vision, strategic direction and management of advocacy and ensure that advocacy is an integral part of Plan international‘s Theory of Change and strategic planning. The PD will Develop and oversee a robust M&E system to measure achievement and progress toward national and global.programme goals and results, including reach and global outcome indicators, and to drive learning and improved programme quality.The PD will seek to identify strategic fundraising leads and concepts and identify and nurture funding opportunities to ensure adequate resources are secured. In this regard, the Programme Directror will ensure the integration of cross cutting issues into design and implementation including gender, non-discrimination, child participation and child safeguarding.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Master’s degree and at least 10 years in NGO sector, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience • Ability to communicate effectively and influence others to reach common goals • Ability to develop effective working relationships across a network • has experience working with local Partners • Able to work as a part of a team • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a very busy office • demonstrates attitudes of integrity, transparency, proactive stance • Willing to work for and on behalf of the organization at the time of disaster within Plan working area or outside
