Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society (SPAS) are procuring an external evaluation for our Sida financed program Building sustainable peace in Myanmar.
SPAS is the world’s oldest and Scandinavia’s largest peace organisation. SPAS is a politically and religiously independent non-profit organisation with more than 8000 individual members.
In Myanmar SPAS are carrying out a Sida-funded peace program in close cooperation with CSOs and activist networks. The overall aim of the programme is to contribute to building a sustainable peace through women, youth and ethnic minorities participation and influence on issues related to local and regional peace processes.
The programme Building is a civil society to civil society cooperation. SPAS and the cooperation partners in Myanmar are working with the belief that peace is not only the absence of armed conflicts, it includes the respect of human rights, gender equality, indigenous right, freedom of religion, equal rights to development and cultural rights etc.
Sectors of work include civil societies involvement in peace and trust building, participation in peace processes, peaceful conflict resolution, gender awareness, interfaith and diversity, mediation and negotiation, human rights, civil rights and human security.
The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and, in particular, the impact of SPAS Sida-funded programme. This includes measuring qualitative and quantitative results related to the baseline study and results framework of the programme. The task also includes assessing unintended as well as intended consequences of the programme (positive and negative), especially as it relates to conflict sensitivity and gender.
The assignment shall be carried out during May-July 2017 and field work and interviews in Myanmar should be undertaken during the last 2 weeks of May (Chin State) and in the first two weeks of June (other regions).
