The project will result in services that are provided in a way that is inclusive and respectful of the Myanmar’s diverse communities, enhance cooperation and linkages between state and community stakeholders, and promote decision making that is more responsive and accountable to communities. To achieve this goal, this Activity will pursue the following objectives:

Objective 1: Community vulnerabilities reduced;

Objective 2: Community participation strengthened;

Objective 3: Local governance systems strengthened.

As Community Engagement Expert, Myanmar you will be reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party and you will provide overall technical guidance and leadership for integration of citizen-led, rights-based approaches to develop local actor competencies in constructive advocacy, democratic participatory processes, and transformation for empowerment as core cross cutting principle throughout project activities.

Requirements include:

  • At least 10 years of experience in strengthening citizen participation at the local level.
  • Successful track record in advising local authorities, governments and civil society on citizen engagement and participation, including methodologies for oversight of local government.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including: local authorities, civil society, local government officials, civic leaders, media, business people and international donors.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Must have Professional-level English, both written and oral.
  • Be prepared to travel to implementation sites and regional, global meetings as required.
