Lebanon: Community Development Officer - Inrastructure and Camp Improvement

  1. In coordination with CIPM, implements the community development Programme as an integral part of the Camp Improvement Plan and focuses on supporting the refugees community as key agents for camp improvement including capacity building, employment and income generation initiatives and other self-help programmes; communicates and coordinates programme activities with different UNRWAs Departments;

  2. Monitors and evaluates project implementation to ensure sustainability and impact of social development projects as part of the camp improvement programme; conducts appropriate evaluation studies;

  3. Conducts socio-economic baseline surveys and conducts shelter assessment in camps in collaboration with Relief and Social Services (RSS) teams to ensure the formulation of integrated community development proposals;

  4. Coordinates meetings with the camp improvement committee and the project working groups to review and discuss the field survey findings and related activities; assists in mobilizing the community to support the camp improvement initiatives;

  5. Maintains close coordination with Community Based Organizations to support incorporation of their camp initiatives within the UNRWA-led camp improvement programme;

  6. Provides input to and/or participates in various ICIP committees and working groups; prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on community development activities in camps;

  7. Performs such other duties as may be required.
