Plan International Myanmar is an international humanitarian, child centred development organisation, implementing development programs that promote the realisation and fulfilment of children’s rights and the alleviation of child poverty. Plan International Myanmar is seeking a Gender Specialist.

Position: Gender Specialist

Assignment Type: Renewable one year contract

Location: This position is based full-time in Yangon with 30% field travel

Job purpose:** Ensures that all Plan International Myanmar’s programmes strive to become gender transformative • Develops, implements and monitors Plan’s Gender Policy • Identifies and assesses local partners for programme implementation • Builds capacity of staff and partners as required • Supports research and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts for evidence-based programming and advocacy • Facilitates learning and knowledge management • Plays a leadership role in representation and government advocacy related to gender issues, including representing Plan Myanmar in various gender networks • Reviews all proposals/project documents to ensure all submissions have measurable indicators on Gender equality • Supports program reporting requirements especially from gender perspectives • Supports communications efforts in ensuring that all communication materials are gender-sensitive • Assists in identifying possible areas for gender mainstreaming within current/legacy programs to ensure that Plan Myanmar is in line with global policies and priorities.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:• Minimum two to three years of demonstrated professional experience leading or advising on programmes that are mainstreaming gender • Extensive experience and knowledge of gender issues in Myanmar • Experience assessing, building capacity, monitoring and cooperating with local NGOs • Good knowledge of community development in Myanmar • Experience in implementing donor-funded projects • Track record of participation, training, facilitation and awareness raising • Experience of working with children and communities is an advantage • Academic degree in relevant area • Excellent English language skills, both oral and written • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment • Strong team-building and facilitation skills • Excellent communication skills • Proficient in computer skills.
