Community Liaison Manager – Myanmar

The total salary package for this position is£32,868- £36,012per annum* including basic salary, cost of living allowance and programme management allowance.

About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Myanmar programme:

Following decades of armed conflict, Myanmar has one of the highest levels of landmine contamination in the world. We have worked there intermittently for many years and now maintain a small programme in-country. MAG’s role in Myanmar is to support the development of national mine action approaches and provide risk education to local communities and INGO’s living and working in contaminated areas.

About the role:

MAG’s community based approach is particularly pertinent in the Myanmar context, where, in order to gain access to communities, strong relationships need to be established at all levels of society. Reporting to the Country Director, you will be responsible for coordinating all our project activities, including overseeing the delivery of risk education, managing national staff teams and ensuring quality and effectiveness of our on-going community liaison related activities. You will work with the Country Director developing future opportunities for MAG in Myanmar.

About you:

You will need previous experience working overseas in international aid/development, particularly in Southeast Asia with expertise leading, managing and developing national staff. In addition, you should have experience in designing and delivering formal or informal training, with the ability to organize and coordinate activities or projects. You will need a proven track record in liaising and building relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including national authorities, non-state actors/ethnic armed groups, donors and NGOs. You should have the ability to represent MAG at the highest levels and be able to work diplomatically in a politically and culturally sensitive environment. You should be aware, this is a field-based role, which is often located in remote project areas with basic amenities, so you will need to be able to live and work in challenging environments, where the need for your skills and MAG’s work is most.

How to apply:
