Project Overview
Pact is currently seeking a team of high-caliber experts to design, develop and manage a planned multi-donor-funded Decentralised Rural Electrification Facility that will provide high-quality services to the nascent rural electrification sector in Myanmar. The facility will sit at the nexus of the supply, demand, policy, and financing of current and future decentralised rural electrification initiatives. Candidates will be passionate about energy as a driver of economic growth; will be passionate about the role of renewable energy; and will have outstanding experience and credentials in a range skills that the Facility will be expected to provide, including but not limited to policy advocacy, investor matchmaking, development and demand creation at the community level, research and knowledge management. Position Purpose
Pact seeks a competent Business and Investment Expert to lead the business advisory work of the proposed Facility to accelerate investments in decentralized energy access market in rural Myanmar. S/he will assist in developing effective business strategies and low-risks high-performance mini-grid business models to roll out commercial initiatives for energy access in remote regions. S/he will be in charge of liaising with investors to mobilize investments to facilitate access to finance for local Energy Service Companies’ (ESCOs) investment-ready projects for rural energy supply. The Business and Investment Expert will work under the leadership of the Facility’s Managing Director in a small team of energetic professionals who are results-oriented and dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in a challenging and diverse environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Business and Investment Expert will demonstrate exceptional performance in the following functional areas:
- Engage with investors, financial institutions, banks, and fund managers to design and deploy financing mechanisms that support deployment of decentralised energy access solutions in rural Myanmar
- Facilitate matchmaking between investors and developers with investment-ready mini-grid projects
Identify, advise and develop business and financial models for commercially-viable decentralised projects in the Myanmar context**Basic Requirements**
Academic background in finance, business modeling and/or analysis, economics, or other relevant fields
At least 10 years of experience in investment/business advisory, banking and/or asset management sectors
Prior experience in developing financial mechanisms/tools to accelerate investments in an underdeveloped sector
Extensive knowledge of business investments environment and ability to trigger match-making between private sector and investors in infrastructure development projects
Commitment to live and work in Myanmar, incl. willingness to travel extensively in challenging conditions
