WAHA International is an International NGO founded in 2009, whose mission is to improve access to health services and the quality of healthcare in disadvantaged communities and to disadvantaged populations such as refugees and IDPs. Since the onset of the current refugee crisis in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, WAHA has been present in all the key locations in order to provide health services through rescues, screening, primary healthcare, psychological support and referrals to those in need through the use of mobile, semi-fixed and fixed clinics.
WAHA is always seeking qualified staff who would like to invest their time and skills in this worthwhile cause.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
- Ensure that control and safety procedures are in place and documented
- Ensure that standards of patient care and all appropriate protocols are in place and being implemented
- Ensure that all staff have been provided with appropriate training on infection control and risk reduction
- Management and that on the job, training is ongoing and part of day to day practice
- Infection Control equipment is in place and being used appropriately by all clinical staff
- Ensure that all logistics, supplies are in place and that appropriate supply chain is in place
- Provide training and de-briefing for all staff
- Provide direct clinical care as required based on patient need and patient load
- Provide technical support, including waste disposal, water supply and infection control parameters and
- Provide support to Technical staff in managing this
- Ensure that any possible risk exposure by staff to possible infection is dealt with promptly
OTHER DUTIES
- Plan the need in activities, coordinate and ensure a good course of those activities in accordance WAHA
- International policies, evaluate these activities on a regular basis
- Support the team supervisor to ensure patient safety and quality of care
- Be able to step into the medical work if needed (in and outpatient)
- Ensure via supervision all administrative tasks related to patients (exit-paper, transfer-paper …etc) are in order
- Coordinate and help implement new components of the medical activities if needed
- Ensure that new components are well supervised and protocols are used
- Daily management of his/her team: ensure monthly roster, annual leave, absences…etc are followed by the supervisor
- Team management: problem solving and conflict resolution among the team
- Indirect supervision of all international medical team member in the project via supervisor
- Support the training nurse in identify needs for training and define strategy accordingly, and ensure staff training
- Ensure evaluation of the staff
- Participate in the evaluation of the national or international staff if requested
- Participate in staff recruitment process
- Ensure staff health for international team is follow up and reported to coordinator
PHARMARCY AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
- Responsible for the pharmacy, supervising store keeper in close cooperation with coordinator.
- Support the emergency orders process according to the need and consumption, give your direct input especially on medical needs outside of consumption figures
- Interaction with other section, at field level, to prevent rupture in the project and help out if there is the need
- Supervise and/or carry out pharmacy and medical equipment management: drugs orders,
- follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their
- destruction, drugs consumption related to his part of the project
MONITORING, ANALYSIS AND REPORTING
- Participate in the development of the plan of action, budget revision
- Actively monitor and report medical activities (statistics, reports) and analyse those
- In charge of the data collection of the project and ensuring tools are in place and adapted in case of need
- Ensure external reporting as needed (GOAL, etc.)
- Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines
- Conduct and/or support assessments in the area and ensure reports
SKILLS
- English is required
- Language skills in Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, and/or French are highly appreciated but not necessary
- Previous humanitarian experience preferred
- Previous relevant medical experience
