Description:

The position of Communication and Project Development Officer Lebanon is responsible for:

  • The external interaction and visibility of SB Overseas in Lebanon,
  • Assisting SB HQ in the search for stable, continuous and reliable sources of funds, and,
  • Coordinating with the SB HQ to assist in the identification, planning and implementation of development projects for SB centres in Lebanon.

Primary Tasks:

Communication:

  • Represent SB Overseas at regularly scheduled local meetings with other NGO’s, IO’s, and government organisations
  • Coordination of general visits to SB centres, in consultation with the Director/Project Manager at each centre
  • Create and maintain a contact list for local NGO’s, IO’s, donors, etc.
  • Preparation of monthly communications report for the Head of Mission, to include an update on fundraising activity, conferences and meetings attended, new contacts, concerns, opportunities, etc.
  • Research calls and other sources of funds from corporations, foundations, government organisations, and other international organisations and share this information with the SB HQ Project Development Officer for follow up.
  • As directed by Head of Mission: Engage in direct contact with donors, corporations, foundations and other potential sources of funds. Including coordinating meetings and arranging visits to SB centres

Project Development:

  • Review and analyze the monthly reports from the centres to determine project development and funding requirements and then prepare the combined report for the Head of Mission
  • Prepare project proposals for presentation to the Head of Mission
  • For Head of Mission: Prepare monthly project reports for sponsors/donors with updates on progress and expenditure of funds
  • Regular coordination of project activity with SB HQ Project Development Officer

Secondary Tasks:

  • Organising and scheduling orientation training for new volunteers. Includes coordination with new volunteers, the Director/Project Manager at each centre, and with the trainers who will provide the briefings
  • When required: Coordinator and overseer of teacher volunteer initiated fundraising projects
  • Airport pick up and drop off of teacher volunteers destined for the centres

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least one year of fundraising experience
  • At least one year of project development experience
  • Experience writing proposals and presentations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English and good in French
  • Good computer skills
  • International Driver’s Licence

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Refugee experience
  • Multi-national experience
  • Arabic speaker

  • Displays strong personal initiative

Remarks:

  • Normal work environment will be in refugee camps in Lebanon
  • Will require regular travel within Lebanon
  • May require overtime work
