Communication Coordinator for MENA region will be responsible for managing all communications concerning our Dynamic Futures programme which provides higher education scholarships to (Syrian) refugees. And as such works closely with the local SPARK offices in the region (Turkey, Jordan, KR-I).
This means that you are the first contact person for our donor and our offices in the MENA region. Together with our donor you will develop a communication strategy and plan, and implement this in collaboration with SPARK staff in the field offices – and in close contact with headquarters in Amsterdam. It will be your goal to set up both internal and external communications in this region, in order meet the demands of our donor, to increase the visibility of SPARK and our donor – and to tell the stories of the refugees in this part of the world.
We expect our communications coordinator to be knowledgeable and experienced in communication strategies, event organizing, public relations and online media (social and website). Your writing skills in English and Arab need to be excellent. And we expect you to be flexible and a team worker.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:
● Develop and implement communication plan for Dynamic Futures
● Coordinate and manage SPARK communication in MENA region (in close collaboration with headquarters in Amsterdam)
● Social media (promotion, increase interactivity, storytelling)
● Website (edit, increase traffic, support registration)
● Collection of stories (in order to use them for comms)
● Provide communications about events, conference and other SPARK activities
● Develop network of journalists
● Contact with donor(s)
● Contact with SPARK staff
Requirements and Skills
● BA or MA degree (or other relevant education)
● Excellent English and Arab language skills
● Proven editing and writing skills
● Journalistic skills: not afraid of picking up the phone and giving someone a call
● Social media knowledge and experience are essential; in particular, digital advocacy
● Familiarity with Google Drive/Docs/Analytics/SEO/Ad words etc.
● Experienced with Word Press and Mail Chimp (basic knowledge of html preferred)
● Experience with graphic design preferred
● Good communication and social skills and the ability to work in a multicultural setting
● Proven organizational skills and the ability to work independently
● Lebanese nationality only
