Lebanon: Junior Project Officer

The Junior Project Officer will support the Project Officers in following up with day-to-day student requests, student information and support. Additionally the Junior Project Officer will provide administrative support particularly in logging activities and student support provided by the Project Officers as well as submitting relevant documentation into SPARK’s online student system (SIS), in order to keep track of student progress and participation as well as incoming requests. Thus strengthening the capacity in the office especially in light of the increased number of students in Lebanon and the resulting increase in demand for ongoing student support. Finally the Junior Project Officer will form the first link in referring students to external expert support when needed.

The Junior Project Officer will report to the Country Manager.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating student requests and referral by maintaining contact with the students, answering email requests, and answering a SPARK smartphone on weekdays between 9-5;
  • Communicate administrative and activity related messages to all students through SPARK Whatts app groups, also maintaining group membership;
  • Logging all student request in SIS, on a daily basis;
  • Compiling bi-weekly SIS reports on types of student requests varying from study or scholarship information to counselling needs, providing an indication of student needs and referral cases to relevant Project Officers, Coordinators and the Country Manager;
  • Referring students with direct counselling needs to selected external focal point at all designated education institutes; this will be the case for study support based on for instance low grades or participation;
  • Assist in student election and maintaining contact with focal points at the educational institutes;
  • Other assistance as required.

Requirements and Skills

  • Preferable a Higher Education or Bachelor degree;
  • One year of experience in comparable job;
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English and Arabic;
  • Excellent communication and social skills;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural setting;
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • High energy, pro-active and service minded;
  • Hands-on attitude and willing to help out flexibly if required;
  • Lebanese nationals only.

  • A gross monthly salary between 1.000 USD and 1.400 USD depending on professional experience and based on a fulltime appointment of 40 hours;
