The Monitoring and evaluation officer will be in charge of developing and managing an M&E system for SPARK Burundi programmes and projects.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the SPARK Burundi country manager to develop acquisitions
- Provide technical support to the Cibitoke and Rutumo Agribusiness Incubation Centres and programme partners
- Develop and manage an M&E system for the SPARK Burundi programmes and projects
- Report periodically to the SPARK Burundi Country Manager on programme progress
- Conduct a capacity building assessment for programme staff and partners
- Support the SPARK finance team in preparing budgets and financial reports
- Write and publish articles on programme activities
- Liaise with the media where necessary to communicate programme results and milestone events
- Elaborate and present monthly, quarterly and yearly reports on the programme
- Facilitate planning for evaluation missions with programme donor
- Other programme related ad hoc tasks and duties assigned by the SPARK Burundi Country Manager.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor or master’s degree in; project management, development studies, political science or other similar disciplines
- Previous experience of at least 5 years working in the field of programme or project management for an international NGO or similar international institutions in the development sector
- Experience doing project development and acquisitions
- Working experience conducting research/studies and capacity building for organisations and cooperatives.
- The candidate must be in possession of a valid driving license.
- A good understanding of factors contributing to unemployment in Burundi, food security, as well as the fishing, cassava, honey and fruits value chains
- Experience working with standard planning and M&E toolsHi
- Excellent verbal and written language skills in French, Kirundi and English will be considered as added value
- Capacity to conceive and execute complex development interventions
- Good communication and social skills and the ability to work in a multicultural setting;
- Organisational skills and the ability to work independently;
- Ability to work under pressure;
