Program Coordinator
The role
The Program Coordinator supports the SCI South Central Syria Program by leading coordination of Central Syria activities along with other stakeholders.
1 Play a key role in Beirut-based coordination mechanisms including representing the Head of Office, as needed. 2 Develop and maintain relationships with other stakeholders including INGOs, SNGOs, and coordinators. 3 Serve as a focal point for coordination of all central Syria activities to ensure they are in line with identified needs and gaps.
Qualifications and experience
Essential Experience
- 5 years' experience in the Syria response
- Experience with representation to a wide variety of stakeholders
- Experience with supporting remote-managed and partner-led programming
- Program management experience in nutrition, child protection, education or FSL
Education & Trainings
- Graduate Degree or equivalent in Security Management or related field.
- Security Management Certifications from accredited institution.
- Understands the complexity and values of non-profit organizations and "Do No Harm" principles
Skills
- Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, establish information networks, and coordinate with country authorities, militias, donors, International Organisations and local NGOs.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a highly stressful and challenging environment.
- Proven ability to work constructively in diverse teams and to manage national staff
- Proven skills in concise and succinct report writing.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin all aspects of the job.
- Commitment to Save the Children Child Safeguarding policy.
- Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
- Good Computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet)
Desirable
- Familiarity with the various key state and non-state actors impacting the political and humanitarian environment of the Syrian conflict, including the United Nations, INGOs, NGOs, governments, and donors.
- Experience living and working in Syria or neighbouring countries
FLEXIBILITY
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues
Contract length: End of 2018
