Myanmar: Research Consultant - Nutrition & Resilience - Myanmar

The role

We are currently looking for Research Consultant - Nutrition & Resilience to be based in Yangon, Myanmar with field travel.

Role Purpose

The consultant will support the LIFT Fund Board (donors), the LIFT Fund Management Office (FMO) (UNOPS) and LIFT implementing partners to understand the relationship between nutrition and resilience in Myanmar through secondary research, including both qualitative and quantitative data sources.

The consultant will collaborate with LIFT FMO consultants who are conducting sister-studies to examine changes in LIFT's other purpose-level outcomes on income & assets, policy and vulnerability between 2015-2017 to understand LIFT's contribution to improved resilience and its context. Each of these studies will feed into a broader study seeking to answer LIFT's Evaluation and Learning Question, which asks to what extent LIFT has contributed to strengthening the resilience of poor people in Myanmar and helped them to hang in, step up and step out.

Qualifications

  • Masters (required) or PhD (preferred) in nutrition, food security, agriculture, development, or other relevant degree

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • In-depth understanding of nutrition-sensitive interventions in the food security and livelihoods sector
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in nutrition, food security, agriculture, or development
  • Experience in leading qualitative and quantitative research
  • Experience developing case studies
  • Strong data analysis skills, using STATA or SPSS
  • Southeast Asia regional experience

Desirable

  • Experience with work or research experience in Myanmar

Contract length: Agreement
