Lebanon: Safety and Security Capacity building specialist

Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The Safety and Security Capacity Building Specialist will be responsible for effectively training all country office security focal points in Safety and Security management procedures.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Plan, convene and provide security trainings to the security focal points and other key staff of the mission, to increase their competencies in Safety and security management procedures

· Analyze the needs in terms of knowledge and competencies that will be required to create a keen sense of safety culture among the mission.

· Develop the contents and methodologies to ensure the transfer of knowledge

· Conduct the transfer knowledge activities (simulations…)

· Maintain the highest level of technical and instructional expertise in the subject area assigned to instruct

· Provide the Country Director, with all required End Of Course documentation in a timely manner

Provide technical support in the development of the Access and Acceptance strategies for Lebanon mission

· Support in the analysis and development of the stakeholder mapping

· Ensure that the visibility policy abides the security standards

· Support in the identification of access operational challenges and the development of the strategy

· Support in the development of acceptance strategy and responsibilities in the mission

· Identify internal Coordination and validation mechanisms

CANDIDATE PROFILE

· Proven experience in Safety and Security management. Demonstrable competence in and enthusiasm for practical training methods.

· Technical specific knowledge:

· Minimum of 3 years’ humanitarian field experience in emergency relief or conflict environments, preferably in a security role.

· Sound knowledge of humanitarian security and a commitment to humanitarian relief.

· Action againt Hunger knowled: Preferable

· English mandatory, Arabic an advantage

· Computer literacy in MS Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

· The position is based in Beirut with visits to the field 1h30 away

· Beirut is a nice town to live in, very close to the sea and the mountains and offers you lot of diversity in terms of living conditions and activities (sports, trekking, outdoor eating, sea bathing...)

REMUNERATIVE PACKAGE

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:

• Formal work contract: 12 months starting mid-September 2017 (ideally)
• Salary: from 1.700 € to 2.200 € gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience (according to standard list of Action Against Hunger - Spain). Action Against Hunger - Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.
• Up to 20% additional remuneration depending on the position’s context and responsibilities (according the grading scale set by Action Against Hunger)
• House and maintenance covered by the organization (including per diem): package estimated according to the destination.
• Travel costs to and from the mission.
• 25 working days of paid leave per year.
• Health, repatriation, travel and life insurance covered by the organization.
• Extra per month and per child (Under 18 years old): from 100€ to 225€ monthly (according to standard list of Action Against Hunger - Spain).
