Project Description:
Land O’Lakes International Development is seeking candidates for the position of Communications and Outreach Specialist for an anticipated project to increase the competitiveness of key actors in the agricultural and food processing industry. The project will focus on improving capacity, systems, and practices in food safety, food quality, marketing, and access to markets.
Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities:
Working with the Chief of Party (COP) and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Manager, the Communications and Outreach Specialist will support and implement significant elements of the project’s Component 3 to share project knowledge and support learning events and materials for the public, agro-food enterprises and producers, and stakeholders. This component combines a strong Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system that will feed into and align with a Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) Agenda. He/she will be responsible for project Marking and Branding as well as arranging, leading, and preparing events and outreach materials to reach the project’s direct stakeholders (enterprises, government stakeholders, among others). This Component will make extensive use of written materials and social media, roundtable and small conference events, videos, success stories, and presentations using technical content and data from the M&E system.
Primary responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Works with the M&E Manager to design compelling success stories in the form of reports, briefs, infographics, data visualizations, presentations, multi-media pieces, and social media content based on data and findings gathered by M&E.
- Works with project staff and Senior M&E Manager to prepare communication and outreach material for print as well as online publications, including interviewing experts and/or reviewing and revising text as well as material for Land O’Lakes and USAID websites and publications.
- Contributes to and revises the project’s outreach and marking and branding planning documents.
- Supports the use and management of a digital knowledge management platform to organize evaluation data, tools, documents, communications, and work plans.
- Develops and writes clear and concise case studies, success stories, reports and publications for USAID, local organizations, and private and public-sector partners.
- Supports events planning and training facilitation for stakeholders and project team.
- Develops scopes of work and content for short videos showcasing project impacts and activities overseeing contracted videographers.
- Implements the project Marking and Branding, CLA, and Outreach Plans. Reporting & Supervision:
The Communications and Outreach Specialist reports to the M&E Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, journalism, multimedia or any related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in creative communications, preferably on a USAID-funded project.
- Familiarity in USAID’s policies and procedures of branding is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
- Excellent writing skills for clear and concise written products aimed at industry and the general public.
- Experience with setting up and managing social media platforms and content.
- Experience with event planning, group meeting facilitation, and management of display content at conference-style events.
