Project Support Specialist, Yangon Country Office

Plan International is an international humanitarian, child centred development organisation, implementing development and humanitarian programs that promote the realisation and fulfilment of children’s rights and the alleviation of child poverty.

Position: Project Support Specialist
Accountable to: Emergency Response Manager
Location: Yangon, Myanmar with frequent travel to field (Sittwe, MraukU, Myitkyina)
Assignment Type: 6 month contract

Preferred Start Date: 18th June 2018

Job purpose:
Support and train field level project managers to produce quality information products to ensure compliance with donor requirements ; Support proposal development for humanitarian projects in line with BDM team procedures to ensure pipeline of grant opportunities ; Support tracking project level expenditure and alerting ERM when the expenditure is not in line with work plan; Tasked with monitoring progress against objectives for 4-8 projects ongoing simultaneously in at reporting periods and flagging any problem areas to ERM, then helping to set strategy for addressing the problems (either through changes in implementation plan or through negotiating with donor).

Specific tasks will include:

  • Build capacity of project managers to prepare quality reports in order to maintain productive relationships with donors.
  • Coordinate inputs from Project Managers, HPUMs, ERM and Donors to develop compelling project proposals.
  • Proactively track the progress of projects, specifically: budget expense and achievement against indicators and inform ERM of any off track projects to ensure strategy to address issues is developed and presented to senior management (DP, ERM, BDM, OSM) to that they are able to address issues in timely manner.
  • Promote the inclusion of gender transformative analysis and project design in ERM project proposals to ensure EMR programs contribution to Plan International global ambition.
  • Represent Plan International at meeting identified by ERM to maintain Plan International’s presence and contribution to cluster and sector coordination.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Essential

  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to communicate cross culturally and support
  • Fluent in English Language
  • Proven understanding of donor needs and requirements and ability to support diverse teams to meet those requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • 1-2 years of reporting experience
    Desirable
  • Experience with gender mainstreaming.
  • Experience with child safeguarding and child-protection mainstreaming
  • Experience in conflict sensitivity programming and DNH approach.
