ROLE PURPOSE:
As a member of the child Protection team, and under the guidance of the Technical adviser, the Child Protection project will be responsible for the conduct of the project that aims at strengthening the implementation of Child's Rights and strengthening social accountability for Burundian children in the province of Bujumbura. He/she will oversee all activities of the Child Rights Governance (CRG) project in order to strengthen the capacities of the Child Protection mechanisms (CPE) and of the civil society. He/she will play a determining role in the support of the community prevention and response system, coordination of CP mechanisms and the design of appropriate and effective information and education tools.
- Supervision, implementation and monitoring of the project in order to strengthen Child Rights and social accountability towards children in the rural province of Bujumbura in close coordination with the partners
Conduct CP capacity-building activities in order to improve the prevention and response capacity of various stakeholders while actively contributing to the analysis of CP trends
In liaison with the partners, design and develop quality educational and information tools to strengthen community mechanisms through "child Protection Committees", civil society and children's forums with a focus on prevention of violence, resilience, accountability and participation of children.
QUALIFICATIONS
University degree in social science or in a relevant area or equivalent work experience.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
· Burundian nationality
· Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in child protection or related field with international organizations.
· Demonstrated experience in the design of quality information education and communication materials with an emphasis on child protection and/or the governance of child's rights
· Proven technical knowledge and skills in the field of Child protection.
· Excellent knowledge of child Protection and the governance of children's rights
· Experience in training and capacity building in the PE field and willingness to devote time and patience to the development of others
· Experience in community mobilization and awareness-raising activities in the province of Bujumbura and capacity demonstrated to work in teams
· Ability to identify key gaps in child protection within the given context to inform a holistic response for children.
· Excellent computer skills (MS Office, including Outlook for email), PowerPoint and various information and education tool design software.
· Experience in work through consultative and participatory processes and the ability to balance multiple conflicting interests to work towards a common goal. Strong organizational skills.
· Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
· Ability to supervise and advise staff to obtain results.
· A good written and spoken English level
- Commitment and understanding of the rights of the Child and safeguarding children's goals, values and principles, including rights-based approaches
