Myanmar: Senior EU Aid Volunteer in Risk and Vulnerability Assessment and Conflict Analysis in Myanmar

Description

The project “**EU Aid Volunteers Involvement for Increasing People-Centred Humanitarian Response capacity”**, led by Alianza por la Solidaridad** aims to boost the humanitarian aid sector's capacity to provide needs based humanitarian aid in disaster prone and disaster affected areas. Four EU organisations from Italy, Greece, Hungary and Spain will work together with 16 organisations from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Middle East and North African countries, and Asia in different activities, all participating in humanitarian actions.

For the present vacancy, ActionAid Hellas will act as sending organisation and ActionAid Myanmar will be the hosting organisation. None of them are faith-based organisations.

Operational details & security context

Myanmar has been undergoing a transition to democracy since 2015, and certain regions of the country are still engaged in civil conflict. There is a possibility of civil unrest due to the political and religious context. ActionAid Myanmar takes every possible measure to ensure the safety of staff and volunteers, including security briefings, restrictions on travel, updated risk assessments and safety precautions in urban and rural areas.

Risk and Vulnerability Assessment

To plan and organize the extended risk assessment methods and tools and train the staff on implementing it, focus on Dala Township

Communication and Awareness on EU Aid Volunteers Initiative

a. Draft and publish articles describing volunteer's experience in the field and keeping active in social networks;
b. Gather audiovisual materials to be used in public awareness activities in the volunteer's hosting community and/or local community in Europe;
c. In coordination with the NGOs partner of the project, organize and execute a public awareness activity in the hosting country and once back in Europe.

Required competences:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree preferably in Development Studies or related fields.
  • Experience of working successfully as part of a team.
  • At least 3 and above years working experience in M&E, Conflict and Peace building, DRR and Gender
  • Excellent ability on writing proposals/reports, verbal and written communication in English.
  • Knowledge of planning and implementing risk assessments, as well as general M&E frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitation, communication, negotiation, networking and knowledge of working through partnerships.
  • Gender sensitive and responsive.

  1. Download and complete the self-assessment questionnaire (Excel) and Europass CV (Word) that you will find attached to the vacancy announcement. You will need these when you apply.

  2. Click on 'How to Apply' to apply directly with the sending organisation in charge of the project. You will be required to fill in an application form and send it to the sending organisation along with the self-assessment questionnaire, EuroPass CV and a motivation letter.

  3. The sending organisation will arrange the selection process following the timetable set out in the vacancy announcement.

  4. A mandatory two-week training course is part of the selection process. Candidates selected for this training will be required to take part in online preparatory sessions before attending the training.
