Myanmar: Sr. Technical Officer

• Provide technical and programmatic support and set priorities for one or more projects • Ensure that Jhpiego's project activities are technically sound, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of the country and its people • Participate actively in technical and strategic support to the Ministry of Health, Myanmar and counterparts • Assist in the assessment of clinical training and service delivery needs, especially at facility level, and in the design and implementation of appropriate measures to address those needs • Provide technical assistance and capacity development for partners, facility and NGO staff to gain knowledge and skills to manage MNCH services • Conduct trainings and provide technical assistance and mentoring as required • Demonstrate and disseminate best practices and new technical strategies and approaches in areas of expertise • Provide technical oversight and ensure appropriate support and preparation for capacity building activities • Participate actively in strategic planning of activities in support of the project goals and objectives, including the determination of priorities and appropriate technical initiatives • Frequent travel for technical and programmatic support within Myanmar.• Medical Doctor/Nurse/Midwife with outstanding technical and management skills demonstrated through strong experiences in donor-funded initiatives, MPH preferred • 5+ years of mid- to senior-level experience designing and implementing field-based programs focused on maternal, newborn and child health; capacity building; service delivery improvement and health systems strengthening • Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in individuals and institutions in the areas of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, and performance and quality improvement • A strong understanding of the Myanmar health care systems; must have strong contacts in the Myanmar health sector • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination • Strong clinical background and experience • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills • Excellent organizational skills; possess strong team-spirit • Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders and other organizations • Ability to cope with stress and meet the time lines • Myanmar nationals strongly encouraged.
