We work in shelter, emergency distributions, education, water and sanitation and legal assistance. Our response on the ground has grown rapidly with the dramatic rise in displacement and we now have more than 1,200 staff members working on the regional response to the Syria crisis.*

NRC is currently recruiting a Shelter Specialist for our Lebanon Office.
Our ideal candidate is:

A university graduate and experienced Shelter Specialist, with a minimum of 4 years' experience as a senior Project/Programme Manager and/or Advisor in a humanitarian/recovery context. A clear communicator and a creative thinker with strong analytical and negotiating skills. Experience in WASH programmes would be an advantage.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop Shelter Programme strategy, technical SOPs/guidelines and macro-logframe in line with NRC Programme Policy, national and international standards, and in coordination with other Core Competencies
  • Comply with and adhere to NRC’s policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Responsible for technical quality and innovation of the Shelter programme, and for seeking synergies with other Core Competencies/programmes.
  • Responsible for developing and revising funding proposals, budgets and donor reports in accordance with the Shelter Programme strategy and priorities, programme policy and international standards.
  • Responsible for following up the compliance with grant commitments (i.e. quality, timeliness, use of resources), and for providing recommendations to Project Managers and Coordinators to achieve project targets and indicators.
  • Provide technical direction and project implementation support to Area Managers, Project Managers and Coordinators.
  • Provide systematic training and build capacity of Shelter staff.
  • Evaluate, review and regular quality control of ongoing and completed Shelter projects.
  • Represent NRC at the National Shelter Working Group and engage in sub-working groups and technical task forces as appropriate.
  • Promote the rights of refugees in line with the advocacy strategy.

We offer up to a 24 month contract
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions

Duty station: Beirut

Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start
