The role
The Head of Organisational and Staff Development will be accountable for the provision of effective HR services in both emergencies and development programming contexts focusing on staff/organisation development.
The main areas of responsibility of this roles will be:
- HR strategy, plan and systems
- Performance and talent management
- Staff development and staff engagement
- Leadership, change management
- Organisational structure and culture
- Strategic workforce planning
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 6 years' experience in Human Resources in at least 2 countries (or with a multi country remit)
- Substantial knowledge and experience on Learning and Development, Performance Management and overall capacity building
- Understanding and knowledge of organisational development and/or change management
- Strong experience of managing organisational projects, including design and implementation of policies
- Proven ability to design and implement an HR strategy
Management:
- Significant people management skills/experience and proven ability to create an environment which encourages team-working and motivates a team across various geographical areas.
- At least 3 years of management experience
- Proven track record of building staff capacity
- Ability to coach, mentor, delegate appropriately and provide developmental guidance to supervised staff
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field, or/and professional qualification such as CIPD
Communication and Technical Skills
- Ability to interact and influence a variety of stakeholders, including Directors and Head Office
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Experience of managing disciplinary cases
- Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
General:
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles.
- Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the Child Safeguarding Policy
- High sense of personal integrity, discretion and good judgement
