MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the Pursue global budget as well as programme budgets for Lebanon.
- Manage financial goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll.
- Ensure spending remains as projected and value for money is maximized where possible.
- Promote best practice in financial management by ensuring compliance with local and international accounting procedures thus facilitating the presentation of quarterly financial reports to clients.
- Record all financial transactions related to the programme and company, as well as maintain accounting records and supporting documents for monthly financial reports.
- Coordinate with the programme manager on monitoring the project expenditures and reporting any variances.
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of financial reports.
- Draft project budgets and amendments as needed.
- Keep the records up-to-date for the general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable and payable, depreciation and insurance records in close coordination with the corporate finance team.
- Oversee the handling of petty cash in collaboration with the country manager.
- Direct internal audits involving review of accounting, financial, and administrative controls.
- Coordinate preparation for audits.
- Review financial statements with senior management.
- Manage all bank transactions, accounts and reconciliations.
- Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.
- Act as point of contact with company Lawyer and Auditor.
- Comply with Lebanese Law, the requirements of Lebanese Ministry of Finance and adhere to high standards of financial reporting.
- Complete relevant tax procedures in coordination with an independent Auditing firm (VAT and income tax).
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in finance/accounting.
- 3+ years of hands-on budget management experience + accounting experience.
- Previous experience in managing non-governmental organisations’ budgets is a plus.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Mature individual with attention to detail, able to work independently and under stressful conditions and tight deadline.
- Functional competencies required: effective communicator, analytical thinker, active learner and team player.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of computer applications specially, MS office and outlook.
- Effective communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Arabic.
