Country focal person for all Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives.
Responsible for the preparation of the NRC country emergency Response Plan (REP)
Responsible for undertaking analysis of country emergency humanitarian needs
Contribute to resource mobilization by participating in the preparation/verification of concept papers and proposals for on-going and possible future emergency response projects (cash and NFI distributions, shelter, WASH, education and CCCM)
Collect, compile early warning information on possible disasters (conflicts and natural) to be used for the preparation of ERP, Humanitarian Contingency Plan and disaster risk reduction measures
Ensure adherence to specific international emergencies standards in planning and response.
Develop partnerships and maintain regular contact, good collaboration and coordination in the humanitarian community, with state authorities to facility access and implementation of the planned activities
Ensure mainstreaming of gender in humanitarian action to ensuring effective and rights based humanitarian response - including camp management and coordination, education, food security, gender-based violence, health, livelihoods, non-food items, protection, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene.
Develop Plans of Action and SoPs to be used in the event of quick on set emergencies
Plan and implement emergency related assessments in NRC operation areas and take part in OCHA or other partners led assessments to identify the damages made by the disasters and needs of the affected people
Identify potential local partners with whom emergency interventions could be implemented in the affected communities
Lead the preparation of progress and completion reports of projects and ensure timely submission of the same, and provide the necessary justification to Grants Manager in case of extension of the project life
Monitoring and evaluation of the project activities and follow up on the compliance with contractual commitments and response standards.
Represent NRC in internal and external forums on matters related to DRR and humanitarian preparedness and response
Manage, train and develop DRR, emergency preparedness and response capacity for NRC Country Office staffs.
Responsible for project documentation including lessons learned and relevant humanitarian tools
Supervise emergency staff, coordinate their work and evaluate their performance.
