Assistant to International Technical Advisor
The Sustainable Coastal Fisheries (SCF) Programme
implemented by
Department of Fisheries with support from Embassy of Denmark in Myanmar
The SCF Programme will focus on securing sustainable livelihoods of coastal communities in Tanintharyi Region and Rakhine State. The Programme will pilot co-management arrangements between Department of Fisheries (DOF) and local communities to sustainably manage Myanmar’s inshore coastal fisheries and to assist communities in improving livelihoods dependent on natural coastal and marine fish resources.
We are looking for Assistants to the SCF International Technical Advisors who will be working closely with Department of Fisheries based in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon respectively.
Duty stations:
Position 1 - Nay Pyi Taw: Department of Fisheries, Nay Pyi Taw with frequent travels to Project sites and Yangon to be expected.
Position 2 - Yangon: Department of Fisheries, Yangon Regional Office with frequent travels to project sites and Nay Pyi Taw to be expected
Contract period: 2 years, including 3 months of probation.
Main purpose of the job: Assist the International Technical Advisor in overall facilitation of the implementation of the SCF Program, particularly translation/interpretation, logistical and practical preparation of field missions, workshops and seminars.
Key responsibilities:
Assist the International Technical Advisor in liaising with the Department of Fisheries, relevant Government institutions, and other stakeholders,
Interpretation/translation of discussions/documents from Myanmar to English and vice versa, both in writing and verbally,
Assist International Technical Advisor in facilitating field missions including logistical arrangements in coordination with the Department of Fisheries,
Assist the International Technical Advisor in facilitating workshops/seminars, trainings and study tours in coordination with the Department of Fisheries.
Qualifications:
A university degree (at least BSc level).
Fluent in Bamar and English both written and spoken.
Experience in interpretation/translation from Myanmar to English and vice versa, both in writing and verbally
Minimum two years of experience in program/project management with international organizations.
Proven ability to engage government stakeholders and working with and between government institutions as well as with other stakeholders within communities and civil society.
Excellent computer skills.
Experience in the field of coastal fisheries or resource management will be an asset.
Personal qualifications:
Flexible, open-minded and energetic.
Ability to work in a political environment.
Good contact, cooperation and communication skills.
Conflict sensitivity.
