Basmeh and Zeitooneh works on relief and development in marginalized and vulnerable areas in Lebanon and Turkey. Late last year we decided to embed and expand our advocacy efforts by setting up a department dedicated to both advocacy and research. For this new department, we are looking to hire an Advocacy and Research Officer.
Contract: Full time position
Location: Beirut- Furn El Chebbak
Core Responsibilities
The Advocacy and Research Officer will focus on researching political and social issues facing displaced people, and on developing advocacy strategies, position papers, and other written materials. Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Contributing to the development and delivery of successful research projects through field research, background research, Arabic-English translation and analysis
- Monitoring political and human rights-related developments in Lebanon to identify potential advocacy opportunities
- Contributing to the development of Basmeh and Zeitooneh’s long-term advocacy strategy
- Contributing to the development of issue-specific advocacy strategies and messaging around regional human rights issues and policy initiatives
In the coming year one of the key topics will be access to education.
Education and Skills Required:
- Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is essential
- Demonstrated creativity, ability to apply innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative research
- Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity in communication with people from different backgrounds
- Excellent analytical, presentation and reporting skills
Experience required:
- 1 to 2 years Education
- Degree: Masters Degree Field of education: Social Science, or any other equivalent field.
