Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate (M & E) and overall supervision of Programme Officer in Maungdaw, Programme Assistant (Database) will be responsible for the following duties:
• Design, develop and implement databases related to operational activities;
• Maintain and ensure accuracy of data kept in databases, including through assistance in coordination of data collection and supervision of data entry processes; maintaining accurate records and files within the field of work.
• Verify source and methodology of data and ensure accurate meta data exist to support appropriate analysis;
• Liaise with other units to resolve issues and clarify or obtain additional information;
• Assist in analyzing information kept in database, including writing SQL queries and generate information reports;
• Support strategic and operational processing and analyzing data, promoting data standards and developing standardized data collection and dissemination tools and processes;
• Assist to collate analyze and compile monthly and quarterly project status reports and work plans as required;
• Assist in the development of standardized formats and procedures for project operations in consultation with relevant focal points;
• Support programme implementation through assistance in developing and maintaining data systems relevant to monitor and evaluation;
• Upload data related to operational activities including CPs to WFP Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) online database on a monthly basis by transforming data into the standardized formats in order to enable operational reporting at Country Office level;
• Provide technical support to programme required database with good understanding of relational databases, selection and segmentation procedures, technically and real world application as well as with knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applications: MS Excel and MS Access.
• Perform any other appropriate duties as required.
Qualification
Education:
Secondary school education. Supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to
programmatic activities will be advantaged.
Experience:
At least three years of progressively responsible support experience including at least one year in the field of accounting, transport, insurance, statistics, operations or another related field.
Knowledge:
Experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
Language:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Myanmar.
Critical Success Factors:
Ability to spell and write correctly in English; ability to maintain accurate and precise records and to interpret and analyse a variety of data and resolve discrepancies. Courtesy, tact and the ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Desired skills:
Proficiency in English and Myanmar both in writing and speaking. Training and/or experience using other WFP software; knowledge of WFP financial regulations and rules, and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work.
