Myanmar Country Representative
Based in Yangon
Start date: mid-2018
HD’s Myanmar programme was established in 2012 and spans two areas of activity: (i) providing support to the ethnic peace process between the Government of Myanmar and ethnic armed groups, and (ii) promoting stability and reconciliation in Rakhine State. The two pillars of the programme are intended to address the most challenging aspects of armed conflict and communal tensions in the country.

· Ensure appropriate links with HD’s other work in the region;
· Raise funds for the programme as well as proactively maintain and develop donor relations;
· To support the Regional Director (Asia) as requested, including providing advice and, where appropriate, direct involvement in HD’s mediation activities in Asia.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
· Between 10 and 15 years of relevant experience in the field of international relations, mediation or conflict resolution.
· Experience in Asia would be helpful but is not a prerequisite.
· A demonstrated track record in managing teams, especially national staff, is mandatory.
· Possess solid organisational, and writing skills, conflict analysis skills, and sound political judgement.
· Strong programme management skills are key as well as the ability to ensure programming remains streamlined and focused on HD’s niche.
Applicants must be willing to remain in Myanmar for a minimum of two years, and ideally longer.
