Myanmar: Regional program managers

Chemonics seeks two regional program managers for the anticipated five-year USAID Community Strengthening Project in Myanmar. The goal of the project is to assist communities in areas affected by or prone to conflict to improve access to essential services, recovery from conflict, and resilience to future shocks as well as to empower these communities to more fully participate in Myanmar's democratic transition and national reconciliation processes. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:​

  • With guidance from the chief of party and deputy chief of party, supervise field-office staff and manage the project's operations as well as financial, administrative, and activity management systems in the field to ensure compliance with USAID requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Implement the overall regional program strategy
  • Assume responsibility for financial and administrative management as well as activity development and implementation
  • Advise USAID, the chief of party, and other program staff on the evolution of the local political, economic, and social situation in their area and on how to continually adapt the program to ensure it remains relevant and effective

Qualifications:​

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field like international relations, political science, business, data science, journalism, public administration, law, or peace/conflict studies; military experience (with an honorable discharge) may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area
  • At least four years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility, including supervisory management experience, as part of relevant field-based projects
  • Relevant experience with field-based operations and financial management, including budget development and tracking, financial management, or procurement
  • At least two years of experience working in complex, dynamic, and challenging field conditions in developing countries required; experience with previous Asian or Southeast Asian countries undergoing transition preferred
  • Demonstrated political acumen, excellent judgment, and ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in Burmese preferred but not required
