arche noVa - Initiative for People in Need is an independent, non-religious, non-profit- and non-governmental organisation (NGO) from Dresden/Germany working in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Our primary focus is in the field of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
The organisation is a member of alliance Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH), arche noVa bears the donation seal of the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) since 1996.
arche noVa is implementing various projects in Myanmar since September 2008. We are active in 4 different regions: Northern Shan, Kayin, Rakhine and Irrawaddy Delta. Our main sectors are: WASH, livelihood, DRR and education. For the implementation and coordination of arche noVa’s country program we are looking for a
Program Manager Myanmar (f/m)
The responsibilities of the Program Manager include operational and project management, financial management, communication and representation of arche noVa to the local authorities and the other local stakeholders. The Program Manager is based in Yangon, Myanmar with frequent travel to project sites.
Starting date: 1st of June 2018
Place: The Myanmar Country Office is based in Yangon, Myanmar but frequent travel to project sites are foreseen.
Responsibilities:
The Program Manager will
- Manage the Country program, including project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities;
- Support the day to day implementation including staff management, revisions to project design, work-plans, activities and program planning, budgets and recruitment of project staff;
- Identify and report in a timely manner to the Country Manager, any difficulty or possible change in project strategies, objectives, results or activities, and make recommendations for timely and optimal course corrections;
- Monitor the program implementation environment, including security, political, development and personnel issues that may affect implementation of the projects and provide updates to the Country Director in a timely manner;
- Supervise and mentor project staff to support the day to day operations
- Provide accurate and timely project-related reports and prepare future proposals as well as seek new funding opportunities in close coordination with the Country Director
- Budget Control in cooperation with Finance Manager
- Be responsible for optimal use of logistical, financial and human resources
- Providing PR department at HQ with relevant material for the visibility of the project and further fundraising
- Be responsible for the organization and the monitoring of all procurement within the country program in coordination with the responsible project staff
- Be responsible for interim and final reports / donor reporting in coordination with the Country Director
- Coordinate and link with partners, donors, stakeholders; proactively seek potential collaborations and funding opportunities
- Human Resource Management/Team leading
Requirements:
- A relevant College or University degree and or a relevant special vocational training in development management
- Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in managing /implementing programs in humanitarian aid, transitional aid and / or development with international development /multilateral organizations.
- Demonstrated experience /knowledge of project management;
- Experience/knowledge in budget development, project design, financial forecasting and monitoring and evaluation tools;
- Experience in writing project proposals incl. budget and monitoring of those projects is an asset
- Prior work experience and knowledge of Myanmar is an asset
- Fluency in English
- Fluency in German is an asset for donor reporting
- Knowledge of Burmese or any other local language would be an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Team player, positive attitude, flexible mind and comfortable working in a multi-cultural setting
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Strong sense of ethics, integrity, credibility, respect and commitment to AN mandate
- Demonstrated ability tin problem solving, setting priorities, meeting deadlines and guiding staff members
- Willingness and ability to travel to project locations within Myanmar
