INARA is looking for a Junior Accountant who will be responsible for all of INARA’s accounting. The Junior Accountant will support and assist the Programme Manager and team to ensure that finances are carried out according to policies and procedures.
The role is full time and a 6-month contract. Interviews are held on a rolling basis for an immediate start. This position is for a Lebanese national or resident of Lebanon.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Services:
Executes accounting for INARA Office activities.
Monitors income, that is donations received from donors on daily basis; and prepares suitable summaries to capture sources of funds received.
Monitors expenditures, and allocates each and every payment done against the appropriate budget line.
Monitors the local and international bank account balances, to assure funds are always available and sufficient in the local bank account.
Prepares comprehensive bank reconciliations for all international and local bank accounts.
Prepares payments on time, after collecting sufficient supporting documentation form the case officers.
Checks invoices and supporting documents, and prepares international transfers and local payments accordingly.
Administers the petty cash funds allocated to caseworkers.
Prepares fixed assets, income, expenditures, and banks summaries on weekly basis.
Administers and Monitors the master budget, and its updates on a monthly basis.
Explains any variations in the budget to the Programme Manager.
Carries out accounting tasks using various online accounting and administration software applications.
Submits the end-of-month accounts from the project accounting, donations, expenditures, and other various accounting summaries.
Internal Control:
Check the petty cash vouchers and receipts submitted by the Caseworkers and Programme Manager for completeness and allocation against the budget
Other Duties
Reports all problems with financial administration and compliance without delay
Keeps custody of and administers the documentation filling system at INARA, for all operations, beneficiaries, finance, and reporting activities as per established rules and guidelines
All other relevant tasks as directed by the Programs Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration majoring in Accounting and Finance from a reputable university
One year minimum experience in a comparable position in an NGO
Experience working in the finance department in a humanitarian organisation in Lebanon
Strong interpersonal, written and oral English and Arabic communication skills with an ability to communicate to a wide range of actors
Ability to work independently, to initiative and with the ability to prioritise workloads without direct supervision
Trustworthy with the ability to keep information confidential
Experience using online software and Microsoft Office
