About the job:
The Regional Representative represents the organization toward regional influence networks and platforms. She/he acts as interface and advocacy toward donors, partners and UN regional entities and is the voice of the organization in all regional bodies. She/he is responsible for the pre-opening of new missions (Iraq, Yemen…) until a regular mission can be set up. She/he contributes to the development of new response mechanisms, as remote partnerships and, in this objective, identifies potential partners
The main challenges of the position are:
Representation / Reporting / communication
- Represent the organization by general delegation of the desk Manager or had hoc delegation of the Head of mission
- Ensure that the organization is represented in all regional meetings
- Ensure the feedback and dissemination of collected information
- Report any relevant information to the desk Manager and/or Head of mission
- Communicate internally and externally on SI strategies and activities in the region
Strategic orientation
- Follow and analyze the political, cultural and economic context of the region
- Organize diagnostic missions and analyze humanitarian needs in the countries of the region where SI is not operating yet
- Contribute to the development of projects and the drafting of project proposals to donors
- Contribute to the definition of a regional strategy
- Assist, when required, the Head of mission in developing country strategy
Relationships with donors / fund-raising
- Monitor and analyze financial donor strategies
- Actively assist the Desk Managers and Head of mission in fundraising
- Strengthen relationships between the organization and financial donor representatives
Pre-opening of new missions
- Contribute to the opening of new missions in the region acting if needed as Head of mission until a permanent presence is set up with the support of the technical Coordinators from the SI missions in the area (Syria, Lebanon)
Identification and assessment of local partners (remote partnership)
- Identify potential partners in countries where SI would like to develop partnerships
- Assess the mandate of potential partners and their respect of humanitarian principles
- Assess the operational, administrative and reporting capacities of pre-identified local partners using the SI Partner assessment tools
- In country where SI has a mission, when requested, assist the Head of mission in carrying out those tasks
Your profile
Experience:
- 5 years in Humanitarian assistance and at least 2 years of international relief and development program management experience in senior positions (Field Coordination and up).
- Previous experience in mission opening/strengthening/settings
- Experience in conflict/post-conflict contexts, with experience in supporting emergency responses, access and security analysis and management
- Previous experience with SI is an asset
Technical skills and knowledge:
- Excellent diplomacy and representation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions. Specific skills on contextual, security and access analysis are an asset
- Stress management skills: ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, with peaks of heavy workloads; ability to work as stand‑alone staff with only remote support
- Computer literacy with very good command of MS Office Suite
Transferable skills and spirit:
- Autonomy
- Respect of hierarchy
- Respect of security rules
- Flexibility (will have to take on responsibilities that might not be directly on his/her JD)
- Adaptability to changing work environment and possible volatile security situation
Languages:
- Fluent English: speaking, reading and writing skills
- Arabic is an asset

We offer
· A salaried post: according to experience from 2.300 euros gross per month, plus 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, and a monthly Per Diem of 750 USD.
· Social and medical cover: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination costs are refunded.
· Vacation: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of one break every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 7-day break during the 3rd and the 9th month (with 500 euros allocated by Solidarités). She/he will also be entitled to go back to his or her home country for a 14-day period after six months spent on the mission (Solidarités will cover travel costs).
