We are recruiting for a Country Technical Coordinator to be based in Myanmar. As part of the Senior Management Team, the Country Technical Coordinator will provide oversight to multiple technical projects within the Myanmar programme. This would include supervising the progression and planning of technical projects/components of projects as well as the assuring technical quality and, through liaison with Asia Technical Director ensuring Myanmar is inline and contributing to the Regional and Global technical strategies of Malaria Consortium
This position will also play a key role in identifying and advising on upcoming opportunities for expansion of the Myanmar programme and developing proposals. There will be a significant amount of representation at a senior level (including with government of Myanmar) as required by the Country Director.
Continuing to strengthen the technical breadth of the Myanmar office is an important part of the role. The Country Technical Coordinator will lead on identifying needs and providing or sourcing appropriate training, as well as undertaking or advising on recruitment as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive experience with designing and implementation of projects and operational research in the areas of: malaria, dengue and/or neglected tropical diseases, childhood illnesses, Surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, Disease prevention and treatment
- Up to date technical knowledge on key areas including Malaria Elimination, Surveillance strategies, Health Systems strengthening, m-Health
- Strong skills and demonstrable experience in the key elements of study design (methodology selection, sample size calculation, tool design)
- Demonstrable experience in supervision of operational research implementation, particularly large scale survey implementation
- Proven quantitative analytical skills including in using and training others in using statistical packages such as STATA, EpiData, and SPSS and an understanding of qualitative analytical techniques.
- Experience managing staff both national and ex-patriot to deliver projects of outstanding technical quality in a timely fashion.
- Experience liaising with government on complex projects including external representation
- Authorship of publications in peer reviewed journals
- Excellent English writing and presentation skills and experience applying them in the areas of grant/proposal writing, external representation, and development of partnership
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work and interact with government and non-government colleagues and partners as well as in a multi-cultural team in Myanmar and the Asia Region.
Travel: frequent travel expected within Myanmar, occasional overseas travel
