The Organization

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is a non-governmental organization working to transform the way societies deal with conflicts. We have acquired over 30 years of experience in peacebuilding and are based in 53 local offices worldwide. SFCG first worked in Lebanon in 1996, and we opened up our office here in 2008. The issues we address are multiple, such as conflicts arising within Lebanon's diverse society, tensions resulting from the increasing influx of Syrian refugees, security sector reform, as well as women’s socio-economic empowerment. In each project we seek to engage all stakeholders and strengthen local capacities in order to create sustainable change and increase social cohesion.

Summary of Position

The Finance and Administration Coordinator will provide support to the overall financial and administrative management components of the 18-month long EU-funded MADAD project. The project is implemented in Lebanon Turkey and Iraq.

Responsibilities

Support the Team Leader in effective financial management of the project

  • Prepare and maintain financial plans and forecasts for the length of the project, providing advice on best ways to structure plans and highlighting problem areas and potential risks to the Team Leader and Finance Manager.
  • Review and analyse variances on a monthly/periodic basis and reporting to the Team Leader and Finance Manager.
  • Prepare estimates, projections and any other management information that provides the necessary data required to take financial planning decisions.
  • Contribute to the analysis of financial information and preparation of internal and donor’s reports ensuring they are accurate, complete and timely.
  • Ensure compliance with SFCG and donor accounting requirements.
  • Undertake regular reconciliation and other expenditure and income, according to agreed timeframes and standards.
  • Collaborate with SFCG finance team as well as partners’ finance teams in order to fulfil payments and other project expenditure.
  • Ensure that all expenditure is charged to the correct budget line.
  • Support the preparation of periodic financial reports to the donor and the completion of effective audits for the project.
  • Liaise with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth and proper coordination related to payrolls and regular payments and purchases

Ensure overall financial compliance and management across the consortium

  • Coordinate with co-applicants finance teams for timely financial reporting
  • Responsible for financial tracking tools to be used across the consortium
  • Follow up with consortium partners for financial tracking and spending rate
  • Conduct internal verification within the consortium to ensure costs eligibility and compliance
  • Maintain regular communication and provide support to finance teams of consortium’s partners

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Lebanese Citizen.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting & Finance. An accounting certificate from a certified institution would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance regulations for the European Union.
  • Experience with budgeting, grants management and reporting to international donors.
  • Capacity to negotiate with partners and to make decisions affecting those partnerships.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively to work with a diverse team, with attention to mentorship and professional development of staff.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail.
